Other featured keynotes include: Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., author of “The Biology of Perception, The Psychology of Change: Putting It All Together” will speak on the link of health and behavior to the environment, and more importantly, our perception of the environment; Time Magazine Award Winner and Executive Advisory Board member of the National Institute of Health, Tieraona Low Dog, M.D., will talk about the future of integrative medicine; David Sobel, M.D., author of “An Everyday Guide to Your Health”, will speak on the medical benefits of healthy pleasures; and Author and former Crested Butte, Colorado Mayor, W. A pre-conference series will be held on Wednesday, October 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring seminars for aromatherapy certification, clown college, conflict management, developing a care partner program and health resource centers, healing design architectural forums, introduction to patient story telling, diversity in healthcare, healing energy practicum, and the use of music in healthcare.

Attendees will have time for a special wine and cheese reception where the speakers will be available for book signings.

Planetree was founded over 20 years ago by Angelica Thieriot; an Argentinean appalled by what she felt was cold, impersonal, dehumanizing medical care when she was hospitalized in the United States for a rare virus. Thieriot began a crusade that resulted in the founding of Planetree, which is dedicated to improving the hospital experience for patients and their families through a patient-centered approach which supports healing of the mind, body and spirit. Currently there are over 76 affiliates in the rapidly growing Planetree alliance.
