Diego Cevallos leads Planetree’s sales strategy across Central Latin America, supporting the growth of person-centered care partnerships throughout the region. With more than a decade of experience advancing Planetree’s work in Latin America, Diego brings deep expertise in healthcare transformation, organizational culture change, and relationship-building with complex health systems.
In his role, Diego works closely with hospital leaders to introduce and sustain Planetree’s person-centered care framework, partnering with organizations as they strengthen leadership practices, elevate patient and caregiver experience, and build cultures grounded in compassion and collaboration. His efforts have supported the expansion of Planetree membership across multiple countries and contributed to the successful certification of hospitals in Colombia and Ecuador.
Prior to his current role, Diego served as Deputy Director of Planetree Latin America, where he helped establish Planetree’s first Spanish-language regional office and supported consulting, assessment, and education programs across South America. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles in corporate communications and spent two decades as an international journalist, serving as Bureau Chief in Ecuador and Mexico for Inter Press Service (IPS). This background informs his strengths in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and multicultural leadership.
Diego holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Universidad Central in Ecuador, along with additional postgraduate training in political analysis, patient experience, organizational culture, and healthcare leadership. He is based in Mexico City.
