Heidi Ruis is an experienced healthcare leader with more than 40 years of executive and management experience across long-term care, hospital care, and home care. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to advancing person-centered care by helping organizations strengthen leadership, improve quality, and create cultures where patients, residents, families, and care teams can thrive.
Heidi has held a wide range of leadership roles spanning strategic, tactical, and operational management. Her experience includes leading organizational transformation initiatives, quality improvement programs, accreditation and certification efforts, and the development of new healthcare facilities. She also played a key role in advancing the implementation of the Planetree philosophy across her organization, integrating person-centered care principles into quality improvement, staff development, and organizational culture.
Known for her collaborative and engaging leadership style, Heidi is passionate about inspiring individuals and teams to embrace meaningful change. She believes that sustainable improvement begins with listening, building strong relationships, and empowering people at every level of the organization to contribute to exceptional care.
Now retired from executive leadership, Heidi continues to support healthcare organizations as a member of the Planetree Global Certification Network.
