Alaa Al-Aqra is a healthcare quality and patient experience leader dedicated to advancing person-centered care through strategic leadership, quality improvement, and meaningful partnerships with patients and families. As Group Manager of Patient Standards at Eastern Health Cluster Headquarters in Saudi Arabia, he leads system-wide initiatives focused on patient engagement, Planetree accreditation, and enhancing the beneficiary experience across one of the region's largest healthcare networks.

With more than 18 years of experience in healthcare, Alaa has successfully led quality, patient safety, risk management, and accreditation initiatives across diverse care settings. He is recognized for his ability to translate organizational strategy into sustainable improvements that strengthen patient outcomes, foster cultures of safety and continuous learning, and elevate the experiences of patients, families, and healthcare teams alike.

Alaa is passionate about helping healthcare organizations embed person-centered principles into everyday practice. His work brings together quality, safety, and patient partnership to support transformational change, ensuring that care is not only clinically excellent but also compassionate, respectful, and responsive to the needs, values, and preferences of those receiving it.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Jordan, a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Geneva Business School in Switzerland, and a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom. Alaa is also a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), and an Accreditation Canada International Surveyor.

As a member of the Planetree Global Community of Practice, Alaa is committed to sharing knowledge, collaborating with healthcare leaders around the world, and supporting organizations in their journey toward more compassionate, person-centered care.
