Bekim Jashanica, PharmD is a clinical pharmacist and healthcare professional dedicated to advancing person-centered care through medication safety, patient education, health equity, and meaningful partnerships with patients, families, and care teams. Through his clinical practice and community health work, Bekim brings a unique perspective that connects pharmacy expertise, quality improvement, and population health to support more compassionate and effective healthcare experiences.
As a clinical pharmacist at Griffin Hospital in Connecticut, Bekim plays an integral role in supporting safe, evidence-based medication practices while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve care delivery. He contributes to organizational initiatives focused on quality improvement, patient safety, medication management, and the patient and family experience. His work reflects a deep commitment to ensuring that clinical decisions are informed not only by best practices and evidence, but also by the individual needs, values, and preferences of each person receiving care.
Bekim has been actively involved in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee initiatives, helping promote responsible medication use that balances clinical effectiveness, safety, and patient-centered decision making. He recognizes communication, shared decision making, and health literacy as essential elements of high-quality care and works to empower patients and families to participate fully in their healthcare journeys.
A passionate educator and mentor, Bekim has served as a preceptor for pharmacy students from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy, where he was honored as Preceptor of the Year, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Through teaching and mentorship, he supports the development of future pharmacists who understand the importance of empathy, collaboration, and patient partnership.
Beyond his clinical role, Bekim has contributed to community health initiatives focused on improving access to care and promoting wellness, including COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts, smoking cessation programs, cholesterol education, and inhaler education initiatives. These experiences have strengthened his commitment to advancing health equity, building trust within communities, and designing healthcare experiences that meet people where they are.
Bekim holds master’s degrees in Healthy Aging and Rehabilitation and Global Public Health, with academic and professional interests spanning healthcare quality, patient experience, health equity, and the integration of patient perspectives into healthcare improvement efforts. As a member of the Planetree Global Certification Network, he is committed to helping organizations strengthen person-centered practices and create healthcare environments where every individual feels heard, respected, and supported.
